Softball
by Johnny Langdon 1954-2004

"It was great back in the sixties and seventies
Softball was played by men, when and where coaches earned respect,
players hustled for pleasure,

backers were the kings

To the fans, the players were the heroes carving their niche through the world of softball.
Playing, coaching, teaching, caring enough about softball as a sport to take the time to put back the treasures they had taken out along the way.
You gentlemen lived it ,ate it, slept it and drank it.
You were the heroes the makers of the colorful past,
the true spirit of the sport.
As time passes our heroes pass away.
Another big man down the old timers say, with a tear and beer, your treasures will be safe and your legends will go on ….softball was played by men, coaches earned respect , players hustled for pleasure …………….. backers…acted like kings ……."
