"They've Got the Power"...by Buddy Langdon In a previous article we wrote about the power hitters of yesterday. Men that could change a game with one swing of the bat. Now I would like to talk about some of the guys from the 1980's and 1990's and some of the new generation of sluggers. When you need power, these are some of the areas best:
Howie Krause - Proven homerun hitter at the highest levels. Simply said one of the best of all time. 2 time winner of the Fox 8 Homerun Derby. Mark Miklos - May be the best left-handed power hitter in the area. If they pitch to him, he could be the difference in the game. Bryon Borowy - A hitter in the Krause mold. Would hit ton's of homers if he played Open. Strong Dude! Matt Gasper - Has smooth power swing. Can hit homers when you need it. Very consistent. Rich Zatta - Up and coming power hitter. Needs experience to prove he can do it in the upper divisions. Hard worker. He can do it! Steve Horley - May have the most natural power of them all. Very experienced player. Dave Buell - Has held his own with the big boys at the Fox 8 Homerun Derby. I really like his game. Derek Dolgowicz - I was very impressed with him at the Fox 8 homerun derby last year. Nice, long swing and great follow through. Had good coach in his father. Dave Drozin - Has been a top homerun hitter for years. Understands what he's doing in the box. Uses the whole field and very hard to pitch to. Rick Arcaro - Has his homerun swing down pat. Can hit in the clutch with best of them. Jeff Kovatch - Type of hitter I would like on my team. Knows when to hit a homer and when not to. Big and strong. John Morris - Terrific left-handed hitter with power when he needed it. When the game was on the line he was the guy you wanted up there. Perry Perrone - Super all-around player. Proven hitter, homeruns included. Mike Cohen - Hit with power against the best both locally and nationally. Has Hall of Fame credentials. John Steele - Hit the ball as hard as anyone. Could play for me anytime. His strength speaks for itself. Andy Okulovich Jr. - Veteran Player. Could hit any pitch for a homerun. Tony Foscia - 5 tool player that played against Open and A competition. A sure Hall of Famer Craig Ellis - The size and power to play for any team in the country. Awesome Power Nick Frizell - A big time power hitter who has paid his dues. Has the stature and attitude to do the job. Rick Whitfield - Knows where and when to put some "gone" on the ball. Very talented player. Rob Whitehouse - Loads of power. Quiet player with a great work ethic. Bobby Andrews - A solid veteran who knows how to adjust. Cut him loose though and away he'll go. Jim English - His strength is his strength. When he concentrates there are few better. Mark Morgano - They don't come any bigger or stronger then this guy. His reputation for power is both proven and deserved. Big time player. Mike Zadel - Huge man with huge power. That's why he's in the Hall of Fame. First class homerun hitter. Gary Lynce - Great hitter with power to all fields. Gets them when they are needed.
